The Use of Mind Mapping Technique to Improve the EFL Students’ Reading Comprehension Ability of Darussalam Polytechnic

Mind maps are visual frameworks such as  figures, diagrams, or charts used to present structural knowledge spatially with the intention of empowering comprehension and learning. effective in terms helping communicate information because they can clarify complex concepts into simple, meaningful displays so that learners develop a holistic understanding content be learnt. Teachers may use mind mapping technique at different stages instruction for example during prepare students approach new and ideas, after instruction assess reinforce learning instruction. This article reports on an investigation whether it improve reading ability students’ opinions towards technique. The research design used this study was one-group pre test-post test design. employed both quantitative qualitative data analyses from pre-and post-tests, questionnaire, interview. participants study were 35 first-year enrolling compulsory course called Communication Reading Skills Darussalam Polytechnic Palembang. Fifteen (5 highly successful, 5 who did not show any improvement, unsuccessful) selected retrospective interviews. results suggested 1) English post mean score higher than 0.05 level significance; 2) most satisfied their own ability; 3) enjoyed working group agreed mind useful applied non- subjects. Findings implications further discussion.
